Maccabi Healthcare Services: reading your lab results

Maccabi Healthcare Services (Maccabi Sherutei Bri'ut) is one of the four public health funds that make up Israel's national health system. Membership is open to every resident under the national health insurance law, and most day-to-day care — your family physician, specialist referrals, test orders and their results — is coordinated through a single digital account. Maccabi runs this through the Maccabi Online app and the Maccabi4U web portal at maccabi4u.co.il, which is where members book appointments and pick up results.

A test usually begins with your Maccabi family physician placing a digital order — no paper referral is needed. You give the sample at any Maccabi blood-collection point during its opening hours, presenting your ID so the order is matched automatically. Results are published back to the Maccabi4U app and website, generally within a few days, with any value outside the reference range flagged. From there you can open each result set and download it as a PDF — that PDF is the file you upload to Mediora.

Routine blood panels ordered by your family physician are included in the national health basket at no out-of-pocket cost. Some specialised tests can require a specialist's referral or supplementary insurance; the exact conditions are set by Maccabi and shown inside your account, so it is worth checking there before your appointment.
